Jakarta – The Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) has officially launched its 2025 Youth Development Strategy, signaling a significant upgrade in the country’s grassroots and academy football programs. With a clear focus on creating a pipeline of internationally competitive talent, Indonesia aims to become a regional powerhouse in football by investing in its future stars.
Nationwide Expansion of Training Centers
According to the PSSI, the plan includes the establishment and renovation of youth football training centers across all 34 Indonesian provinces by the end of 2025. These centers will feature international-standard facilities and be staffed with coaches from Japan, South Korea, and Europe.
“It’s not just about technique. We’re building well-rounded players with strong mentality, discipline, and nutrition awareness,” said Irwan Setiawan, PSSI’s Director of Youth Development.
European Partnerships to Build Talent Bridges
To broaden opportunities, PSSI has forged partnerships with top European clubs such as Ajax Amsterdam and Borussia Dortmund.
